Welcome to our Product Testing Program
Welcome to Aveda’s Product Testing Program, where panelists play a very important role in product creation. We value your participation in studies and your commitment to follow all the specific study instructions. This helps us ensure that only the best products go out to market. Trained professionals measure product performance, safety, quality, and compliance with established standards through testing.
As a panelist, you may choose the studies you would like to participate in, however you will be required to meet the specific study criteria in a screener prior to enrollment. Screeners are typically sent online via an emailed link. Qualification is determined by specific inclusion and exclusion criteria for each study. Screeners are utilized to determine whether a panelist meets preliminary criteria; final determination is made by the study personnel. Preliminary live screening may also be necessary. You will be notified via email if you are selected for testing. Testing procedures will be described in full detail prior to prior to giving your consent to enroll in a particular study.
TYPES OF STUDIES
There are different types of studies conducted by the Aveda Product Testing Program:
In-Salon Studies:
If you currently live near our headquarters located in Blaine, Minnesota this panel may be for you! Typically, these studies consist of trained professionals applying & evaluating the test product. We have several different types of studies offered onsite, including but not limited to:
- Shampoos
- Conditioners/Treatments
- Styling Products
- Professional Hair Colors
- Current Retail and Consumer Marketed Products
While every study has different requirements, all In-Salon studies will include at least one visit to our onsite research salon. Appointment times typically range from 1-3 hours, though some check-back appointments require less time. Occasionally studies may include longer appointment times. Panelist requirements will be clearly explained prior to study enrollment.
At-Home Consumer Studies:
This option is available to anyone located in the continental United States! Products tested include shampoos, conditioners, leave-in treatments, and styling products. These are mailed directly to your home for you to test on your own. You will provide feedback on the products & your usage experience via online surveys.
At-Home Consumer studies typically range from 1 to 4 weeks in length and involve completing self-administered online questionnaires at various timepoints during the duration of the study. Honest, thoughtful, and detailed responses are important when providing your feedback and opinions of the test products.
Compensation for Studies
Panelists are compensated for their participation in product testing studies. Compensation is determined by several factors: length of study, number of appointments necessary, length of appointments, and the type of study. Compensation details will be provided for each study prior to enrollment.
